2D/3D Computer Graphics with open-source software (Paraview and Blender)

Lecturers: Gerhard Bartzke

Content:

In today`s world, graphical visualization plays an increasingly important role, not only in enhancing the understanding of complex geoscientific phenomena but also in effectively communicating these processes through digital representations. This course offers comprehensive training in 2D and 3D graphical visualization techniques using open-source programs specifically tailored to the needs of geoscientists.

Competences:

Participants will be able to use ParaView, an extremely powerful software that allows them to efficiently visualize and analyze large 2D and 3D data sets. At the same time, they have learned how to use Blender, a leading software for 3D modeling and animation. Both programs make it possible to interactively process geological data and create precise 2D and 3D models. Beyond visualization, participants will learn how to use both programs to create publication-ready figures. By the end of the course, participants will not only be capable of visualizing complex geological processes but also of presenting them in a scientifically rigorous manner.

Assessment:

Individual work on Exercises

Exam Form:
