- Caledonian Orogeny: tectonics, magmatism, metamorphism, erosion & deposition
- Carboniferous volcanism: Midland Valley
- Mesozoic shallow marine deposition (Skye)
- Cenozoic volcanism: Thule Province (Skye)
- Pleistocene glaciation
