Isotope Geochemistry

Lecturers: Simone Kasemann

Content:


The Lectures addresses the basic methods and applications of radiogenic and stable isotopes in the earth and environmental sciences. The contents include radioactive decay, mass-dependent isotope fractionation, radiometric dating methods, the development of geochemical reservoirs, methods for the reconstruction of environmental changes and the theoretical basics of laboratory technology and mass spectrometry.

Competences:

- Evaluate isotope analyzes to reconstruct the geochemical evolution of the Earth
- Apply isotope geochemical methods for age dating
- Interpret endogenous and exogenous geological processes using isotope geochemical data
