Introduction to Materials

Lecturers: Lucio Colombi Ciacchi, Michael Fischer, Helen Elizabeth King, Katharina Koschek, Ilya Okulov, Oliver Plümper, Suman Pokhrel, Kurosch Rezwan, Ella Schmidt

Content:

The aim of this course is to provide an introduction into different classes of materials, materials characterisation and modelling. The course is designed as a lecture series with experts from different fields.
Topics that will be covered include:
- Metal meterials
- Glasses
- Cements
- Nano materials
- Ceramic materials
- Polymer materials
- Materials characterization
- Materials modelling

Competences:

Students are anticipated to acquire the following knowledge and skills:
- understanding different material classes, their properties and applications
- capture basic understanding of material characterisation techniques and materials modelling
