Ship-based Survey for Marine Sediments

Lecturers: Gerhard Bohrmann, Thomas Pape, Miriam Römer

Content:

ALKOR cruise: 31 MARCH and 01 April, 2025 (Kiel - Eckerförde- Kiel)
As part of a 2-day excursion with RV ALKOR, marine geological topics from the Bay of Kiel are dealt with. As part of the cruise, the practice of various marine geological devices (multi-beam echo sounder, sediment echo sounder, CTD measurements, gravity corer and grab) is practiced and applied to the Kiel and Eckernförde Bay.

Competences:

After the research cruise, the students not only saw marine geological equipment, but also got to know it in real ship use. Special marine geological topics of a humid marginal sea are familiar to them.
