Seismic Data Processing

Content:

One of the most important job perspectives for geophysicists deals with reflection seismic imaging of geologic structures and features. It reflects sedimentary and tectonic processes,
presence of hydrocarbons, fluids or gas hydrates, or characterizes subsoil properties of wind farms.
The course is mostly practical in a computer room with some theoretical introduction, but background information needs to be developed by students by literature/textbook reading.
The focus is on developing skills in seismic data processing by learning the full processing sequence from acquisition, positioning, geometry processing, binning, velocity analysis, stacking, noise suppression, static correction, signal enhancement to migration and visualization.
The commercial software package Vista Windows (Schlumberger) will be used.
Participants will apply it to a real field data set, acquired during the student geophysical training course to the Baltic Sea.

> Developing a complete seismic processing sequence from raw data to final products and images
> Application to real field data
> Learning functioning and usage of a commercial seismic software package
> Develop search skills and literature review to gain/improve understanding of complex algorithms and methods
