Activities and tasks
The departmental council is the highest body of the department. It can form committees (e.g. appointment or habilitation committees, study committees, examination committees, etc.) and delegate powers to them.
The tasks of the departmental council are defined in § 87 BremHG. Among other things, it decides on:
- Proposals for the introduction, amendment and cancellation of study programmes,
- curricula, subject-specific parts of examination regulations and doctoral regulations,
- principles of teaching quality management
- Principles for measures to promote young academics,
- promotion and coordination of the coordination of research and artistic development projects
- Principles of resource management
Members
In accordance with § 88 BremHG, the Departmental Council consists of 13 representatives from the following groups:
- 7 university professors and representatives
- 2 academic staff and representatives
- 2 students and representatives
- 2 technical and administrative staff and representatives
Determination of the members
In accordance with the election regulations of the University of Bremen within the framework of the general committee elections.
Frequency of meeting
approx. 6-8 times per year

2 years: university professors, academic staff, staff in technology and administration
