05-BGW-PL3 Magmatic Systems and Reservoir Deposits
Representative Andreas Klügel
This module deals with the formation of igneous rocks, with a focus on the underlying physicochemical processes. In addition, basic knowledge about the genesis of ore deposits and the properties of the most important ore minerals is taught. The lectures are supplemented by practical exercises and calculation examples.
They can evaluate and quantitatively determine physicochemical processes during the petrogenesis of igneous rocks.
They can carry out petrological investigations and modelling and derive the petrogenesis of magmatic rocks.
They have a sound understanding of the occurrence and genesis of the most important ore deposits and their mineral content.
They can identify different ores by microscopy and interpret the microstructure.
