Deep-Water Sediments Exercise

Veranstalter: Karl-Heinz Baumann, Elda Miramontes García, Rebecca Rendle-Bühring

Inhalt:

The theoretical knowledge about deep-marine sedimentation acquired during the lecture will be applied in practical exercises. The students will analyse different data sets (seismic data, multibeam bathymetry, sediment cores, well-logs…) and interpret the type of depositional system and its evolution. The course also includes visual description of sediment cores.

Kompetenzen:

-Describe sediment cores and sedimentary facies
-Interpret depositional environments based on sediment architecture and sedimentary facies
-Write a scientific report

Bewertung:

The mark of the report will represent 20 % of the total module mark.

Prüfungsform:
