Introduction to Crystallography

Lecturers: Ella Schmidt

Content:

Fundamentals of crystallography and crystal chemistry
- crystals and periodicity
- symmetry of crystals
- crystal chemistry
- crystal structure models
- space-group theory
- group-subgroup relationships
- transformations in crystallography
- calculation of interatomic distances and angles


Competences:

The students will get the basic knowledge on symmetry, crystal classes, and space groups as a prerequesite for advanced courses like X-ray diffraction and Rietveld analysis, single-crystal structure analysis, and solid state chemistry.
