Geoscientific Project Exercise

Lecturers: Katrin Huhn-Frehers

Content:

In the module, students should develop an attractive geoscientific project idea alone or in small teams, realise it over a period of 10-12 weeks, document it in a report and present it in a colloquium lecture. Possible projects include mapping and field projects, technical and methodological developments, school, public relations and media projects, or geoscientific activities at companies, authorities and associations. The aim is to independently establish contacts with possible project partners and supervisors, to acquire new technical and management skills, to demonstrate creativity and organisational talent and to broaden horizons of experience.

Competences:

1) Design, realise, document and present geoscientific projects according to own ideas or according to agreements with project partners.
2) Establish contacts and cooperation with companies, authorities, associations, research institutions, media or schools at home or abroad within the framework of the project.
3) Develop methodological, planning, design, decision-making, communication and organisational skills that are advantageous for a subsequent professional career
4) Gain insights into the project processes and sectors of all fellow students by attending several report colloquia and learn from their experiences

Exam Form:

colloquium
