Ocean Chemistry and Pollutants
Lecturers: Thomas Pichler
- General overview over chemical processes in the ocean
- Seawater composition
- Ocean acidification
- Nano-, micro- and macro-plastic in the ocean
- Examples of anthropogenic and geogenic influx of toxic metals (pollutants)
The students know and understand the main chemical processes in the ocean that control seawater chemistry. They can identify deviations from normal conditions understand the potential dangers associated with pollutant input into the ocean.
