Inhalt:

Planning meeting (e.g. January) in advance of magnetic survey campaign (mid-March)
Day 1: Travel to Lower Franconia, setup of field camp
Day 2: Excursion on structural and magnetic properties of Hassberge Keuper formations and Heldburg Dike Swarm
Day 3: Magnetic reconnaisance survey in target area, survey grid design and installation
Day 4: Ground magnetic data acquisition, mapping of geological and human features
Day 5: Ground magnetic data acquisition, cross-anomaly trench or soil core transect
Day 6: Equipment maintenance, field data review and task assignment, return to Bremen
Laboratory rock magnetic measurement of collected field samples
Processing and analysis of survey data in expert teams of 3-4 students
Report Part 1 (Field Data Acquisition) with individualized assignments and chapters
Report Part 2 (Data Interpretation) with individualized assignments and chapters


Kompetenzen:

- plan and execute problem-specific ground magnetic survey campaigns in complex geological terrain by skillfully combining gound magnetic, susceptometric and geodetic methods
- proces and interpret field data by competent use of state-of-the-art processing and modelling techniques and software packages


Bewertung:

Part I of team report with individualized tasks and chapter covering field data collection, mapping and processing.
Final report submission by mid-June, evaluation and feedback by mid-July
