Application for Bachelor Degree Programs is still possible
The application window opens again between September 01 and 15, 2023
Between September 01 and 15, 2023, you can still apply for our Bachelor programs Geowissenschaften and Marine Geosciences. Both study courses are not limited in places. Both programs offer a variety of minor subjects that allow you to specialize on very early while still learning about the full spectrum of Geosciences is guaranteed. While the Bachelor of Geowissenschaften focuses more on applied topics, the international Bachelor of Marine Geosciences provides geoscientific education with relevance to oceanography, marine geology, marine geophysics, and geoinformation technology. With our three master`s programs, Applied Geosciences, Marine Geosciences, and Materials Chemistry and Mineralogy, further qualification after the bachelor`s degree is assured depending on the focus of study. The Bachelor of Geosciences has a more applied profile with computer applications and geological fieldwork. Together with the master`s program Applied Geosciences, which also focuses on applied subjects and includes topics such as geohazards and renewable energy resources, the department offers an education path in geosciences that prepares students for the current challenges of geoscientists in the applied sector. This is possible, among other things, through the involvement of cooperation partners such as Fraunhofer IWES.Unique in the geoscientific study landscape in Germany is the Bachelor of Science Marine Geosciences - an English taught bachelor program with a focus on oceanography, marine geology, marine geophysics and geoinformation technology. With this program, the department has extended its successful marine geosciences degree program to the undergraduate level and now offers, together with the master`s program Marine Geosciences, a five-year education to become a marine geoscientist - the expertise of the surrounding research institutions such as MARUM, AWI, Senckenberg am Meer, ZMT, etc. makes it possible. In addition to marine sciences, the Department of Geosciences is also involved in the research focus on materials science at the University of Bremen. Its Master`s program Materials Chemistry and Mineralogy, offered in cooperation with the Department of Chemistry, allows a more chemical or mineralogical/crystallographic study orientation. Our admission requirements: English proficiency at level B2 (CEFR) is a prerequisite for all programs, except for the B.Sc. Geowissenschaften. For the B.Sc. Marine Geosciences German language skills on level A1 (CEFR) are required, for the B.Sc. Geowissenschaften German language skills on level C1 (CEFR). On top of that, the master`s programs can only be started with a passed entrance test.
