Alessio´s research work is dedicated to sea level changes in the younger history of the earth, as well as to recent challenges of coastal erosion and coastal protection. He also analyzes the interactions between ecological and geological processes in coastal environments under influence of climate and sea level fluctuations. With his work Alessio makes an important contribution to the understanding of highly dynamic changes in densely populated coastal regions as a result of global warming.
