Prof. Dr. Gerold Wefer has received the 2018 Serge-von-Bubnoff-Medal at the GeoBonn Conference, in honour of his contributions to the German Geological Society (DGGV). It also appreciates his ideas for communicating science to laymen and the general public – these include, for example, the House of Science in Bremen and the exhibition ship MS Wissenschaft.
