OpenCampus 2026 - opening worlds sharing knowledge

The next OPEN CAMPUS will take place on June 13, 2026, on the campus of the University of Bremen!
Under the motto “OPENING WORLDS – SHARING KNOWLEDGE,” departments, institutes, and facilities will showcase what they have to offer.

Open Campus 2023 - Open Worlds, Share Knowledge

Visit us in our pagoda in the Campus Park on the topic of 'Volcanism in Germany', or get an insight into the 'Department of Geosciences' and its study program offer, or meet researchers in the "Meet the Expert" panel. The "geowissenschaftliche Sammlung" and the Centre for Marine Environmental Research, MARUM, are also represented at the Open Campus with their virtual offerings, which all those interested in geosciences should definitely visit. All events are free of charge.

Campus City 2022 - the University comes to the city

Between October 10 and 23, 2022, the University of Bremen will again offer events for everyone in the city center. The geosciences will also be there. Join us on a city excursion and learn about Bremen's building blocks. The guided tours will take place on:

  • Guided stone tour of Bremen city center on 13.10. (meeting point: cathedral steps) with Prof. Dr. Jens Lehmann
  • Guided stone tour of Bremen city center on 18.10. (meeting point: cathedral steps) with Dr. Torsten Bickert
  • Guided stone tour of Bremen city center on 24.10. (meeting point: cathedral steps) with Prof. Dr. Gerhard Bohrmann
  • Tuesday, 203-10-17, 3pm: Lab security instructions and fire drill (DE)

OpenCampus 2021 - opening worlds sharing knowledge

From 7th to 11th of June 2021 the University of Bremen invites all interested people from Bremen and around to a digital OPENCAMPUS WEEK!

From Monday to Thursday information events and talk sessions about StartUps, career entries and professional trainings, sports, health and nutrition will be offered, the "International Day" will be celebrated. On Friday, June 11, the departments and research institutions will open their doors for you. Via the interactive campus map you will find information, videos and audios about us, our research activities and study programs in the GEO building and in our pagoda in the campus park. We also offer an extensive live program. Talk to our scientists about urgent questions of future life on Earth or take part in a live-measurement in the laboratory. Your registration for participation will be accepted from May 21, 2021, as long as places are available.
You can also find more geoscientific offers in the pagodas of the geoscientific collection and MARUM.
We are looking forward to your visit!

You don't have time on 11th of June, 2021? That doesn't matter. The interactive campus map will be online by the end of the year.

PHENOMENAL 2020 – Discover Bremen. Meet Science.

In 2005, the historic Hanseatic city of Bremen was the first in Germany to be awarded the title of 'City of Science'. Open Campus 2017: Open Worlds - Share Knowledge

The University of Bremen invites interested people in and around Bremen to an OPEN CAMPUS day on June 17, 2017 from 2 p.m. to midnight.

Come and visit us in our pagoda on Campus-Park with insights to "Open worlds - extreme habitats" or take part in the guided tour "Modern material analysis: phase analysis with X-ray diffraction". For young geoscientists (age 6-10), the Kindercampus Workshop "Jung trifft Steinalt" offers a student lab. We are looking forward to your visit.

Free admission all day long - however, guided tours and workshops have limited places. Please follow the link on the right to book a ticket for the tour or workshop (free of charge) in the description.

MARUM-Wanderausstellung MeerErleben 2009 and 2015

The interactive exhibition MeerErleben (Sea Experience) on the topic of oceans and marine research was jointly conceived by ECE Projektmanagement G.m.b.H. & Co. KG and MARUM – Center for Marine Environmental Sciences in Bremen.

With seven modules on topics related to the sea and marine research, MeerErleben toured German and international ECE shopping centers between 2009 and 2015 and will be on display at Weserpark in Bremen for the final time. The exhibition, which is presented on a total of 220 square meters, is aimed at the interested public and, with special guided tours, at school classes and teachers.

Exhibition “Marine Research in the State of Bremen” 2016

Over the past 30 years, marine research has developed into the largest scientific focus in the state of Bremen, with high international visibility. The two universities, the two colleges, and several non-university institutions are involved in this research, with varying degrees of focus and intensity, sometimes in close cooperation. The researchers are working on projects ranging from coastal areas to the deep sea, with a regional focus on the North Sea, the tropics, the Atlantic Ocean, and the polar regions. The exhibition presents selected works from current research projects in the form of exhibits, images, videos, and overview texts.
