A cordial welcome, Helen King!

2025-05-06
Author: Prof. Dr. Simone Kasemann

We are very pleased to announce that Helen King joined our faculty on 1 April 2025. Helen studied chemistry at University College London and then moved to the University of Münster, where she completed her PhD at the Institute of Mineralogy. As a postdoctoral researcher and fellow, Helen King continued her research at the Institute of Mineralogy at the University of Münster, but also at the Department of Chemistry at University College London and the Department of Geology and Geophysics at Yale University, as well as visiting Tohoku University in Japan. As Assistant Professor of Mineralogy at the Department of Earth Sciences at Utrecht University, Helen focused primarily on the formation and dissolution of inorganic crystals at low temperatures, including those formed by biological processes, e.g. in bones and microbial communities. We warmly welcome Helen and look forward to working with her.
