Focus issue "Rhenish Slate Mountains" published

2020-09-25
Author: Prof. Dr. Jens Lehmann

The research focus of the department is far from the Palaeozoic. In teaching, however, the faculty is broadly based and also deal with rocks from the Palaeozoic. A trilobite found by Wolfgang Bach during a student excursion in the Sauerland region of Germany, brought up the idea to compile a special issue of the journal "Fossils - Experience Earth history" about the Rhenish Slate Mountains. The contributions of Wolfgang Bach, David De Vleeschouwer, Rüdiger Henrich and Jens Lehmann are flanked by further authors from outside Bremen. Despite the name of the journal, it is by far not only about fossils as the topics reveal:
•A fossilised river delta in the Alken quarry
•Structure and sediment dynamics of Devonian reefs
•Earth orbit and climate in the Devonian
•The Lindlar Greywacke
•Are modern coral reefs a model for Devonian reefs?
•The cephalopod fauna of the Frasnium of Lompret in Belgium
•Fossils from the ashes - diversity of organisms from Schalstein rocks
If you are interested in the booklet, you can request a free copy from J. Lehmann - while stocks last.
