- How do I apply for a place in one of the master programs of the Geosciences Department?
You can apply up two months before the closing date for applications (deadline). You have to apply online only. You will find the online application for all offered Master programs here:

Deadline for applications in the master programs Applied and Marine Geosciences is Apr. 30. For the study program MSc Materials Chemistry and Mineralogy the deadline lies on Feb. 28 each year. - Will I receive notification that my application has been received?
After you have submitted the online application, the text appears: Application sent. Your online application has been successfully submitted. This message is your receipt. - When will I receive an official letter?
After the deadline the applications must be checked by SfS-International and by a admission committee or examination board. This process may take up to 8 weeks. Every application will be answered as soon as possible. - When is the latest date to arrive at the University?
The course is a face-to-face course. You have to be present from October onwards in order to take part in our courses. Laboratory exercises can only be started if you have taken part in the “Fire and Safety Instruction”. This course is compulsory for all first-year students and is offered in the winter semester at the end of October/beginning of November.
However, the University of Bremen offers the possibility of being enrolled as a so-called `distance student`. This allows you to arrive later than the end of October. - Is it possible to defer the admission offer to the next semester/year?
No, the admission offer for a particular academic session cannot be deferred or postponed to the next semester or year. A new application is then required. The intake to our master programs is only open once a year in October.
- Where shall I get my documents certified?
outside Germany:

in Germany:
Meldestellen, Ortsämter, Gemeindeverwaltungen, Stadtverwaltungen (Rathaus), Kreisverwaltungen, law courts, notaries. Public Schools, state-run preparation courses and universities may only certify the certificates they have issued themselves. - Who is my contact person for recognition of language certificates?
If you have some doubts, whether the language competence reported on your degree certificate or other official documents will be accepted by the university, please contact the admission department (SfS) via master@vw.uni-bremen.de. - Which language proofs of English proficiency, level B2.2, are accepted?

1) IELTS (5.5-6.5)
2) TOEFL (Internet Based) (72-94)
3)Cambridge–First Certif. in English (FCE, Grade C).

- Students of the MSc Applied and Marine Geosciences have to calculate with high costs for field trips (up to 1000 €), if field training modules are selected.
