Mammal fossils have been found in the travertines of Weimar, Ehringsdorf
and Taubach for two centuries. Even in Goethe`s collection interesting
specimens can be found. Since the beginning of the 20th century,
significant Neanderthal finds have also been made in the travertines. A
considerable number of fossils came to the Bremen Überseemuseum through
purchase and donation. The lecture presents these finds and tells their
story.
