¡Bienvenida Elda!

We welcome Dr. Elda Miramontes García who joined the Faculty of Geosciences as new junior professor in the field of sedimentology.

Author: Dr. Lena Steinmann

Dr. Miramontes’ main scientific interest lies in the sedimentary systems of the deep sea with particular focus on the influence of bottom currents on depositional processes. She follows an interdisciplinary approach integrating sediment-core analysis with geomorphic and oceanographic datasets as well as hydrodynamic models.

Dr. Miramontes has not only graduated from high school with honours, she also completed her Bachelor and Master studies in Marine Sciences at the University of Vigo (Spain) in 2013 with excellent grades. Afterwards, she became a doctoral researcher investigating submarine landslides and their interplay with contouritic and turbiditic deposits at the renowned Ifremer (France), obtaining her doctorate in 2016. As postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Miramontes continued her integrative research at Ifremer until she moved to the Université de Bretagne Occidentale in Brest (France) in November 2017. Moreover, in the course of her international scientific activities, she conducted research stays at the Royal Holloway University of London (UK), the ISMAR-CNR in Bologna (Italy), and Utrecht University (Netherlands).

We wish Elda continued success for her future at the University of Bremen and look forward to a fruitful collaboration.
