Our research and teaching activities concentrate on sedimentary rocks and their fossil content. For the reconstruction of depositional and ecological settings and basin-filling processes we use geochemical, sedimentological and micropaleontological methods.

Working Area

Field work concentrates on Cretaceous-Palaeogene successions in North Africa and the Middle East, on Carboniferous-Permian platform carbonates of Svalbard, and on Early-Middle Triassic intervals in Central Germany.

Methods

High-resolution bio-, litho-, chemo-, and sequence stratigraphy – light and electron microscopy – basin modelling.
