Master Program Geosciences
Studying the master program Geowissenschaften deepen your specific knowledge, the methods and abilities in geosciences. The focus is laid on terrestrial related contents mediated in a method-oriented manner, which allows our graduates to practice and work in a wide range of application fields. A specialization is possible both in the applied and in the research-oriented areas of geosciences.
The interdisciplinarity in geosciences is reflected in a wide range of elective courses and numerous combinations.
Requirements
The program addresses to highly motivated applicants with a keen interest in geoscientific issues and a solid basic knowledge in geosciences. A bachelor`s degree in geosciences or a comparable degree with a final grade of at least 2.5 after our grading system is required. Furthermore at least 1/3 of the bachelor`s credit points or courses in geoscientific subjects and at least 1/6 in mathematics, physics, chemistry and/or biology as well as a mapping course must have been completed. German knowledge level C1 (teaching language) and English knowledge level B1 (accompanying literature, partly teaching language), ability to work both independently and as part of a team, willingness to participate in partly strenuous field courses, as well as a solid handling of information technology should round off your profile.
Career Perspectives
The program establish the basis for a wide range of professional fields such as:
- Advising and expertising of projects in engineering geology
- Ground water exploration, sewage disposal, environmental protection
- Waste deposit construction, registration, surveying and restoration of contaminated sites
- Exploration of petroleum-, gas-, ore-, and mineral resources
- Working as a public relations manager in science journalism, in exhibition centers, museums or organizing study trips
- Activities in research, education and management
