Master Program Marine Geosciences
Program structure

Compulsory elective modules of the 1st year:

Choose 2 out of 4 modules related to competences:

  • Advanced Digital Competences (6 CP)
  • Field and lab practice (6 CP)
  • Marine field and lab practice (6 CP)
  • Complementary Competences (6 CP) e.g. Economics, Languages, Law

Choose 4 out of the following core subjects:

  • Climate change (2 modules, 12 CP)
  • Marine environmental archives (2 modules, 12 CP)
  • Biogeochemistry (2 modules, 12 CP)
  • Marine Geobiology (2 modules, 12 CP)
  • Marine resources (2 modules, 12 CP)
  • Marine geotechnology (2 modules, 12 CP)
  • Sedimentary structures and processes (2 Module 12 CP)
  • Ocean crust evolution (2 modules, 12 CP)

  • Possibility to choose from other masters programs (s. examination regulations)

It is possible to replace one of the four core subjects from the Master`s program Applied Geosciences or by choosing 12 CP from the Master`s programs Environmental Physics or Environmental History. Alternatively, one core subject might be replaced by two more competence modules.

Mandatory modules of the 2nd year:

  • geoscientific project exercise (15 CP)
  • geoscientific research seminar (15 CP)

  • Master thesis (30 CP)
