How do dinosaur bones actually become fossils? The fossilisation process of dinosaur and shark fossils allows us to look 130 million years into the past. Using optical, chemical and mineralogical methods, their creation within the rocks was reconstructed and the chemical environment during fossilisation was reconstructed from the crystallisation sequence of the minerals.
