As part of the European research project “Into the Blue”, 47 researchers and crew members reached the North Pole on September 2 aboard the Norwegian research icebreaker “RV Kronprins Haakon”. The research expedition was organized by the Arctic University of Norway and the University of Bergen. The researchers included members, students, and alumni of FB05 and the Alfred Wegener Institute. They witnessed the far-reaching changes in Arctic sea ice, as it was not easy to find a sufficiently stable ice floe to walk on.
