Stop! Application for Bachelor`s degree programs still possible
The application portal opens again between September 01 and 15, 2024

You can still apply for our Bachelor`s degree programs in Geosciences and Marine Geosciences and Natural Science for Sustainability between September 01 and 15, 2024. All degree programs are not admission-restricted. The first two programs offer a variety of focus topics that allow you to specialize early on and still get to know the entire breadth of the geosciences. While the Bachelor`s degree in Geosciences focuses more on applied topics, the international Bachelor`s degree in Marine Geosciences offers geoscientific teaching with a focus on oceanography, marine geology, marine geophysics and geoinformation technology. The new international Bachelor`s degree course Natural Science for Sustainability is offered jointly by the subjects of Biology, Geosciences and Physics and starts with a new didactic concept. The basics of natural science are taught along with topics such as the water cycle, natural resources and ecology.
The Bachelor of Geosciences has a more applied profile with computer applications and geological fieldwork. Together with the Master`s degree course in Applied Geosciences, which also focuses on applied GEO areas with topics such as geohazards and renewable energies, the faculty offers a geoscientific training path that prepares geoscientists for the current challenges in the applied sector. This is made possible by the involvement of collaboration partners such as the Fraunhofer IWES.
The Bachelor of Science Marine Geosciences is unique in the German geosciences study landscape - an English-language Bachelor`s program with a focus on oceanography, marine geology, marine geophysics and geoinformation technology. With this program, the faculty has expanded its successful marine geosciences study program to the undergraduate level and now offers a five-year study track to become a marine geoscientist together with the Master`s program Marine Geosciences - the expertise of the surrounding research institutions such as MARUM, AWI, Senckenberg am Meer, ZMT etc. makes this possible.
The interdisciplinary international Bachelor`s degree course Natural Science for Sustainability is a new addition to the study landscape at the University of Bremen. It teaches scientific competence related to environmental sciences, health sciences and sustainability and attracts young people with an interest in science who want to tackle the pressing issues of social transformation.
In addition to marine sciences, the Faculty of Geosciences is also involved in the University of Bremen`s research focus on materials science. Its Master`s program in Materials Chemistry and Mineralogy, which is offered in cooperation with the Department of Chemistry, allows students to focus more on chemistry or mineralogy/crystallography.
With our three Master`s degree programs Applied Geosciences, Marine Geosciences and Materials Chemistry and Mineralogy, further qualification after the Bachelor`s degree is guaranteed, depending on the focus of study.
Our admission requirements:
English language skills at level B2 (CEFR) are a prerequisite for all degree programs - except for the B.Sc. in Geosciences. For the Bachelor Marine Geosciences you need German language skills at level A1 (CEFR), for the Bachelor Geosciences at level C1 (CEFR).
In addition, the Master´s degree programs can only be started with a passed entrance test.
