The annually updated Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) uses six objective indicators to rank institutions worldwide in 54 subjects. The indicators have different weights and include the number of papers authored by an institution, relative number of citations, number of publications with international collaborations, and significant awards for the staff of an institution. One of the factors for the significant influence of ARWU is that its methodology is scientifically sound, stable and transparent.
