Session at the 5th PAGES Open Science Meeting (09-13 May 2017, Zaragoza, Spain):

Hydroclimate variability through the ages: Data, models, mechanisms.

We invite contributions from both paleoclimate reconstructions and climate modeling to provide new insight into past hydroclimate variability in both the tropics and extratropics.

Thanks for all contributions. We received about 50 abstracts for the session.

Research Research Work:

After my graduation in physics with a diploma thesis on magnetohydrodynamic instabilities I started to work in the field of Arctic ocean/sea-ice modeling for my PhD. Over time, I became interested into paleoclimate and global aspects of climate dynamics. In order to understand the mechanisms behind (paleo-)climatic variability I use numerical models of different complexity in combination with proxy data. My current research interests involve (i) stability and variability of the ocean's thermohaline circulation, (ii) the role of ocean circulation in shaping climate variability, (iii) solar, orbital and tectonic forcing of climate change, (iv) high-low-latitude climate interactions, and (v) paleomonsoons.
