Research Research Work:

After my graduation in physics with a diploma thesis on magnetohydrodynamic instabilities I started to work in the field of Arctic ocean/sea-ice modeling for my PhD. Over time, I became interested into paleoclimate and global aspects of climate dynamics. In order to understand the mechanisms behind (paleo-)climatic variability I use numerical models of different complexity. My current research interests involve (i) stability and variability of the ocean's thermohaline circulation, (ii) the role of ocean circulation in shaping climate variability, (iii) solar, orbital and tectonic forcing of climate change, (iv) high-low-latitude climate interactions, and (v) paleomonsoons.
