Caspian Sea Fluctuations and Climate Change
Research Work:
After graduating in physics with a diploma thesis on magnetohydrodynamic instabilities I started to work in the field of Arctic ocean/sea-ice modeling for my PhD project. Over time, I became interested into paleoclimate and global aspects of climate dynamics. In order to understand the mechanisms behind (paleo-)climatic variability I use numerical models in combination with proxy data. My research interests include stability and variability of the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation (AMOC), orbital and tectonic forcing of climate, climate-ice sheet interactions, changes in the hydrologic cycle, and (paleo-)monsoons.
