The summer semester began in April at the Department of Geosciences. This first week was particularly exciting for our new students, who were welcomed by Heiko Pälike, Deputy Dean of Studies, and, with the help of Barbara Ventura, gained insights into the organization and structure of their studies. Frank Lisker and Thomas Pape taught basic geological principles in the two-day course "Elements of Geology" followed by a short excursion into Bremen rocks. The first week was rounded off by an exchange of experiences with students from higher semesters and activities offered by our committed StugA, such as geo-cinema and an introduction to Bremen´s cultural landscape by night.
