Effect of interglacial climate conditions on the rainfall intensity
and distribution in the Northern Hemisphere
For studying the effect of interglacial climate conditions on the
rainfall intensity and distribution in the Northern Hemisphere with the
UVic ESCM,
see the list of files here.
- To run the UVic model on your Windows computer, download the file
UVic_ESCM_50x50x19.zip,
extract all files from the archive, go to the folder UVic_ESCM_50x50x19/experiments/control
and double-click on UVic_ESCM.exe.
- This executable file was precompiled for Windows XP in 32-bit
mode.
- It is important that you keep all files in one folder,
including the data
subfolder and the cygwin1.dll
file.
The focus of the analysis of the UVic ESCM model results is on changes
in:
- Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC)
- North Atlantic sea-surface temperature
- Northern Hemisphere sea-level air temperature, specific humidity
and precipitaion
- North West African vegetation cover (if included in the
simulation)
The output files of the UVic ESCM are in "network Common Data Form" (NetCDF). They
can be viewed,
for example, using programs such as:
