Soil Investigation for Wind Farms

Lecturers: Julia Gottschall, Hanno Keil, Lennart Siemann

Content:

Lecture / Seminar Block:
Principles of geophysical concepts for methods applied in the renewable offshore industry;
geophysical project planning with emphasis on the acquisiton, processing and interpretation of data;
joint Interpretation of typical geophysical data types incl. hydro-acoustic/seismoacoustic data in the in the framework of offshore construction work related of wind farms;
interdiscplinary analysis of geophysical and geotechnical data.


Competences:

Familiarization with geophyscial data interpretation (main focus on hydroacoustic and seismocacoustic data sets)
Qualitative and quantitative concepts of joint data interpretation (both different geophysical data types and geophysical/geotechnical data)
Basic understanding of geophysical project planning and geophysical workflows (acquisition/processing/interpretation)

1st SWS: Types of site surveys and their importance for safe and efficient offshore operations

2nd SWS: BSH standards and international procedures for windfarm developments, legal procedures

3rd SWS: Environmental Assessment (Habitat Mapping) w side scan, camera, acoustic

4th SWS: UXO Magnetic/Acoustic Surveys

5th SWS: Cable Surveys (Multibeam, Side scan, Echosounder)

6th SWS: 2D and 3D MCS Seismic Surveys: Instrumentation, Requirements, Survey Design

7th SWS: Geotechnical Soil Property Assessment (CPT, Coring)

8th SWS: 2D and 3D Soil Modeling and Seismic Inversion

9th SWS: Foundation Design and Soil Parameters
