In the frame of research program "Gashydrate im Geosystem" within the program GEOTECHNOLOGIEN funded by the German Federal ministry of Educartion and Research (BMBF), this section develops deep sea instruments. This project is scheduled for the timespan september 2000 - september 2003.

Two main tasks are tackled:
a) For investigations at gas hydrate bearing areas of continental margins, a deep penetrating heat flow probe is constructed.
b) Vertical movement of pore water is tackled by a newly developed pore-pressure measuring instrument.

Insrument development, especially pore-pressure probe with a messenger communication compartment, is in close cooperation with local companies denkmanufaktur and Sea & Sun Technology . In this way, we can achieve our goal to produce a larger number of instruments for deployment on various continental margins. The leading edge of gas hydrate reasearch meets with the innovative solutions of technical challenges for a product for the community of gas hydrate researches.
